If your thoughts have been feeling messy and your energy murky... you’re not alone.
In yoga, the practice of cleansing and clearing the internal messiness and murkiness is called saucha (sow-chuh) — the first of the niyamas. Niyamas are a set of five inner disciplines outlined in the Yoga Sutras, and they help guide us toward harmony, balance, and spiritual clarity.
One of my favorite ways to activate saucha is through Yin Yoga postures. Today, I’m sharing 4 simple, Yin poses designed to help you release stagnant energy, quiet mental clutter, and invite in a sense of ease and clarity.
👉 HEAD HERE to check out them out, and then try these postures for yourself.
Consider the questions…
❓What within me longs to be cleansed or clarified?
❓Where do I need to clear mental clutter?
❓What about my life feels heavy and stagnant?
❓Where am I ready for expansion after clearing?
Put Saucha Into Practice With These Everyday Actions
Body Care
Take a mindful shower or bath, imagining you’re rinsing away stress as well as dirt.
Eat fresh, whole foods that nourish and energize rather than weigh you down.
Hydrate with clean water throughout the day.
Environment
Tidy your home or workspace to reduce clutter that creates mental fog.
Create a small, sacred space for practice or meditation — even if it’s just a candle on a clean surface.
Choose eco-friendly cleaning products that feel in harmony with the body and the earth.
Mind & Emotions
Begin the day with a few conscious breaths to “clear” your mental slate.
Journal to release heavy thoughts instead of carrying them around.
Take social media breaks or setting boundaries around news consumption to avoid energetic “pollution.”
Relationships & Energy
Choose uplifting conversations and stepping back from gossip or drama.
Practice forgiveness to release emotional residue from past interactions.
Spend time in nature to cleanse and reset your energetic body.
